How to Build a Porous Check Dam

The Fitzroy Basin Association has produced a new instructional video.

The Reef Trust 2 Gully Remediation in the Fitzroy program and the Reef Extension and Education Program, saw the production of educational material around gully erosion management and mitigation.  The end result was the production of an instructional video “How to Build a Porous Check Dam”

St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend

This is a must go to event.  A great program includes bird watching and wetlands nature tours, Ranger Nick, basket weaving plus heaps more.  Capricornia Catchments will be talking on wetland habitats.

Best Project Awards for 2015/16

Each year Capricornia Catchments Inc. recognizes the dedication of local landholders towards achieving best environmental practice. Twelve projects were shortlisted from the 36 projects approved during the 2015/16 financial year in each of the following categories:

• Fitzroy Catchment – Grazing
• Coastal Catchments – Grazing
• Grains – Cropping
• Wetlands – Grazing

Projects were assessed against the criteria below:

• Property Planning (is the project part of whole of property plan/redevelopment)
• Partnership and “Champion” Factor, promotion of CC ideals
• Outcomes (overall environmental/Natural Resource Management outcome)
• In-kind contribution

Fitzroy Catchment – Grazing
Nominees in this category were:
“Coorumburra”
“Lake Learmonth”
“Dovecot”
“Mt. Elsa”
