Five Rocks and the Corio Bay area is one of the most beautiful local areas and as such is pretty important to a lot of people. The Corio Bay/Shoalwater area is also a Ramsar site which means it is a crucial stop off and rest point for migratory shorebirds that can come from as far away as Siberia in the Northern hemisphere.

Which is why the Surfrider Foundation Australia’s Capricorn Coast branch hosts an inaugural Five Rocks Clean Up / Camping weekend in the Byfield National Park from Five Rocks beach, down Nine Mile Beach and through to Corio Bay. Check out this video that sums up the activity beautifully.

Have a look at this video what was done at this year’s Five Rocks Beach Clean Up 2016. If you would like to help at future marine debris clean ups contact Janeen at admin@capcatchments.org.au or visit our office. Any assistance to clean our beaches means less pollution in our oceans and waterways.
